Charcoal | Drawing 1| NECC | 2017

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Charcoal landscape of trees and Lake Kenoza.

PROJECT DIRECTION

Starting this drawing proved to be difficult. Initially not knowing were to start, I started drawing outlines of the horizon line and the lake. Once I got outlines down to know the locations of the background objects, I started adding value.
WORK IN PROGRESS

Since the light source created a stark light and dark in the landscape, the drawing needed to reflect the differences in values. Trying to convey it in a drawing required a lot of erasing and re-adding value to certain areas.

FINAL ANALYSIS
This drawing may have done better with more differences in value, but I think it is successful, despite the subject matter not being particularly interesting.
